I am really excited for Sew, Mama, Sews Giveaway Day! Why? I had an extra baby blanket that I wanted to give to one of my lucky readers! It's a round ripple. And I used a variegated blue and green yarn. Honestly, I think it would be good for either a boy or a girl.
This is a close up, of the center of the blanket.
And here it is laid out. Sorry about the picture. I don't know what is wrong with our camera.
All you have to do, is leave me a comment, telling me what your favorite Christmas ornament is and why? That's it! You have until December 19th at 11:59PM PST. I'm just trying to be fair here. And I want to wish you all the best of luck. I'm so excited to start blog hopping! ~Kate the Great
Raul and I really like this song. It's beautiful and emotional. We've been thinking about using it for our wedding. As in the 1st dance. But I'm not sure if it's a little too cheesy. What do you think? It's such a beautiful song! Especially when a Mariachi plays it. Oh, I'm really in love with it. I can't lie. And I'm leaning on the idea of having it as our 1st dance song. Just listen to it...and let me know what you think. ~Kate the Great
Megan has really out done herself this time. Look at all these lovely aprons. You can be a proud winner of one. I really like the first one. The one with stripes. :) Head over to Crochet Every Day and enter to win an apron or DVD. Good Luck! ~Kate the Great
Over at Samster Mommy, they're having a tutu drive. It's for a great cause! For sick kids in the hospital. I'm already making a list of materials that I need. I need to start making some tutus. This is such a great idea. You can join in too. Just whip up a tutu or 2 or 10! Or buy one and send it over. What a great cause! ~Kate the Great
So I've been looking at lots of wedding things. Raul and I still haven't set a date. But we know, we want a smaller, more intimate wedding. Something with our families and good friends. Maybe a nice backyard wedding. Or something at our friend's Ranch.
And I want homemade stuff. My parents are going to be buying my wedding dress. But beyond that, Raul and I are paying for our wedding. With a new house, and me still being in college, our budget is going to be tight. And have you seen the price of certain wedding items? Wow!
I've been searching for homemade ideas. And I've been picking Lola's brain for something fun! She has not disappointed! She sent me these pictures yesterday. I'm not sure where she found them, but I really like this ring pillow!
Being that the cheapest one I've found is $50 (and very ugly!), I'm looking at making one. This ring pillow is something I really love! It's homemade, but still gorgeous! Well, maybe I can ask Lola nicely and she'll crochet the doily for me. :) ~Kate the Great
I've been looking for a fun bouquet idea. I'm not so sure we want to spend thousands of dollars on flowers. And I know I don't want to carry fake flowers. I liked the idea of the "Button Bouquet." But I want something a little softer. Maybe I can incorporate a few button flowers. But I really like this "Pom Pom Bouquet" from Ruffled.
It doesn't look tough to make. And I like the idea of a variety of textures. I really do! I'm thinking I can use zippers and buttons to add a little interest too! What do you think? ~Kate the Great
My sister and I are both engaged. We actually got engaged on the same day! We've got some pretty amazing guys. :) And we're both in college still. Our parents are buying each of our wedding dresses. My sissy is probably going to get married next Spring. Raul and I are looking at the following Fall or Spring.
Since money is tight all around, we're trying to find ways to have nice weddings, but not break the bank. Oh, and both couples...we've purchased homes in the last 6 months. For the 4 of us, that's more important. Having a place to live and one day, grow our families.
I was searching through Free Crochet, and I found these 2 patterns. For garters. Lola had told me about them. And even offered to make both Josie and I one. Now to pick one...
Josie picked the top one. But in a powder blue. You know, for a "Something Blue." I'm leaning towards the bottom one. In blue too! But with no flowers and some more delicate ribbon. It's amazing when you have friends that want to help you out! Thanks Lola!!! ~Kate the Great
I just love Cakies! It's such a nice blog. And Ruby is so talented! But not only do you get all the eye candy and yummy crafts, there are also wonderful giveaways like this one. Hurry up and enter. You have about an hour and a half. ~Kate the Great
#46, Chelsea is the winner!!! Congratulations! I have to say this, I love her blog! I sent her an email, and I'm just waiting to hear back from her. I can't wait to get this package in the mail! I don't want it to get lost.
I want so badly to sit and respond to every one's comments. There is so much good advice that you left me. But I'm in the middle of a move. Literally, Raul and I are finishing the last few boxes we have to pack. Tomorrow morning, the movers come. And we're headed to our new house!
Please bare with me for a few days. And I hope to get back in touch with all of you! This was loads of fun! I'm really considering doing another blog giveaway with some friends of mine. It will be in about a month or 6 weeks. So I'll have some time to create something new and fun! I hope you'll come back and enter that one as well! Again, Congrats to Chelsea! ~Kate the Great
First of all, Welcome! This is the first time I participate in Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway Day! For a few years, I've really wanted to be a part of this. You know, other than entering all the wonderful giveaways. There are so many talented people that I find through this wonderful event.
Secondly, please excuse my horrible picture. I just finished final exams on Friday. And I'm in the middle of planning my wedding. And helping my sister plan hers. I'm a little over my head. And I can't seem to find my camera. I just had it yesterday.
I'm offering a necklace and a pin in my giveaway. My friend taught me how to make jewelry recently. And I have to say, it's a lot of fun! This is a 20 inch silver necklace with silver glass pearl beads. The flower pin is made out of a large white bloom. I have a pink one that I like to wear on my cardigans. :)
For your chance to win, please leave me a comment with a link to a wedding blog or website that you might think I could use. Other than the Knot. I would also welcome a link to any type of homemaking, cooking, or newlywed blogs/websites. And if you don't know of any of the above, I would more than welcome some marriage advice. :)
Please leave 1 comment per person. You have until 11:59pm May 23rd, MST. Good luck. And hopefully, I find my camera so I can take a better picture. I promise, this is a nice set. ~Kate the Great
Isn't this a cute bouquet? I'm not sure where my sissy, Josie found this picture. But it gives me all kinds of ideas. Tonight, we had are usual "Friday Family Dinner." I really needed it! Because I start finals on Monday. So I needed some time to just laugh and enjoy myself. My mom is loving all the wedding talk from Josie and I. The guys and Dad, well they were watching something on ESPN.
But I got this wild idea. I can start making my bouquet. Maybe even the boutonnieres. I know, you probably think I'm nuts. But I think this is beautiful. The flowers on the bottom seem to be made out of felt. And the rest, it looks like button flowers. I don't know how to make them. But they seem easy enough.
Lola knows how to make them. I know that! Because I seen her making some one day. I might just have to ask her about them. So what do you think? Do you like this bouquet? Would it be too much for my bridesmaids and I to carry button bouquets? ~Kate the Great
Have you noticed? All my blog posts are missing! OK, not all of them. There are 15 or so up. But where did the rest go? And when did they go missing?
I happened to want to check a link on my blog today. So I longed on to a computer at school. That's when I noticed. But I didn't panic. Until I got home and signed onto blogger. All my posts are showing up on my list under the "Edit Posts" tab. But when I check them from another computer, they're missing.
I contacted blogger. Now I have to sit and wait. If you have any experience with this, let me know what you did. I have everything saved on my computer. But I really don't have much time in the next 2 weeks or so to play with my blog. Because I'm at the end of the semester at school. And I really don't want to have to re-post all of those blog post. ~Kate the Great
I live a very simple life. I am technically a half hispanic woman, but I am 100% latina at heart. I was raised in a great community. Family is #1 to me. Raul is the most amazingly charming man, and he is my boyfriend. I enjoy spending lots of time with my family. Everyone calls me crafty. I enjoy sewing and scrapbooking. I go horse back riding at least 4 times a week. Been riding since I could walk. My best friend is my big sis Josie. ~Kate the Great
